I am seriously crying at the beauty you guys. This is one of my favorite parts in the manga. I just… I can’t.
This just showcases my love of the series… The characters… This moment is just so precious. I am crying so much…And smiling at the same time.
I really, really like this page and the scene it belongs to, it’s one of my favorites in the entire manga— because it just feels honest and true. I’m not really good at explaining this, but I learned a lot during my year formally studying creative writing under university professors and grad students, and one of the most important things I learned is that when you fill something with a message you truly believe, it really shines through, especially for readers who believe the same thing.
And this page feels so honest. You can tell that Takahashi believes what he’s saying here. I find the manga to ring true a lot more often than the anime did, possibly because Takahashi had the most influence on the storytelling there.
I really, honestly believe a lot of what Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters says about friendship, and it makes me happy when I read pages like this.
(I rambled, sorry.)
